How can you increase student retention?

Ivy Tech Community College is Indiana’s largest public postsecondary institution, with 19 campuses serving diverse communities across the state. In 2022, Ivy Tech began the journey of launching 4DX (The 4 Disciplines of Execution) to help improve student retention.

Ivy Tech’s primary WIG (wildly important goal) is focused on increasing the 8-week term to 8-week term student retention, and as the most recent term came to a close, Ivy Tech saw a 5% increase compared to last year. This was almost 3% over the target goal!

Ivy Tech President, Sue Ellspermann said of this achievement: “We have many people on our teams working to improve retention across the college outside of 4DX. However, there is no doubt that the work through 4DX is ‘shining a light’ on ‘a wildly important goal’ that is moving the needle!”
